The simplest way to determine how your fence should be configured is to contact Hidden Fence Co. and together we can design a system specifically for you.
Common Layouts:

Figure 8 loop: Boundary wire is configured to allow your pet access to the front yard only, or the back yard only. The only way your pet can get from the back to the front or from the front to the back is through your home or garage.
Advantage- This allows you to determine what section of the yard your pet may be in. Also allows you the security that if the front door, side door, or back door is opened and you're pet escapes, they will be contained by the Hidden Fence.
Disadvantage: If your out in the back yard with your pet and you decide to walk around front to wash the car, plant some flowers etc. the only way for your pet to come with you is to take them through your home.
Double Loop or Banana Loop: This layout is used for defining an area for your pet to be in using your home as one side of the loop. In order for this layout to work you must start at one corner of your home and lay the wire in the desired pattern for your needs and end at the opposite corner of your home. To complete this layout you must retrace your pattern with several feet between the wires, ending up in the same corner in which you started.
Advantage- Ensures that your pet stays in designated area as defined by layout.
Disadvantage- If you confine your pet to the house and back yard and someone opens the front door you have no containment provided by the underground fence, as a result your pet could escape to the road or off into the neighborhood to explore. For the same amount of wire you could typically surround your home while achieving the same results. If this were your desired layout you may want to revisit the figure 8 layout to obtain total containment. It is possible to limit the front side so that your pet can not step out of the front door.
